Demo Day - It's Farm Day at Lollypop on April 26th from 11am- 3pm. If you 've never done a spinning demo before, this is a fun one to get in on. It's a very busy day at Lollypop, lots of people come out to this event and there are a lot of children who are fascinated by the spinning wheels. Come join us for a fun spinning day. Lollypop will let you have a fleece as a thank-you for your time, so come join us!
Good News! - Guild member Jim Echter entered his new kick wheel in a juried exhibition competition of the AAW (American Association of Woodturners) with this year's theme being "Turned for Use", and was notified last week that his wheel has been accepted into the juried exhibition. Since only 41 entries were accepted into the show and the AAW is a national organization with over 13,000 members, this is quite an honor! The exhibition will premiere in Richmond, VA, in June and then will be on display in St Paul, MN, at the AAW Gallery in the last quarter of 2008. Congratulations, Jim!
Shepherd's Wool Market - Coming on Saturday, May 31st - local farms are having a one-day sale at the Rush United Methodist Church. The church is located at 6200 Rush Lima Rd in Rush. Come on out with your spinning, knitting or other handwork for a day of shopping and socializing. There will be fleeces, frozen lamb, roving, yarn - all sorts of goodies! Any questions, contact Crik Christophel or Robin Nistock.
May Meeting - We had chair massages on the schedule for the May meeting. I've emailed Tina to double-check and will post the info on it as soon as I get it.
Newsletter - Alanna Wilcox is now doing our newsletter. Any suggestions or contributions can go to her. The deadline is the 25th of the month for the following month's newsletter. All members are welcome to contribute to the newsletter. Tell us about a fiber trip you took, or a spinning experiment you tried, or about a new book you bought. Anything fiber related is welcome.
Fleece Study - Linda Williamson has beginning packets at each meeting which include fleece samples, some trial sizes of wool wash soaps and sheep breed info for the breeds we will be looking at, printed out on card stock, ready to put into a sheep breeds book for yourself. Join in and learn what breeds are best for what use- your projects will thank you!
